I T I N E R A R Y

 

Day 01 : ARRIVE PARO– THIMPU (60 km, 1.5 hrs)                                                                                                               LD

The most spectacular mountain flights you will ever experience in a life time. Flying in from the heat of the plains of India one can witness from the left side of the aircrafts window a series of the world’s highest peaks. Your pilot will announce the names of the peaks if the weather is clear. You will descend into the high mountains and as the plane lowers you will not find any airstrip or any city but instead you will enjoy the view of the approaching valley of Paro, the alpine forests, little monasteries, temples and farm houses. Before the plane touches the runaway you will get a glimpse of the fertile valley of Paro, the Paro Dzong and Paro chu(river). Our representative will be at the airport to assist you, meet and greet and transfer to the capital city Thimphu. Afternoon relax at the hotel. O/n at Thimphu.

DAY 2 THIMPHU – HIKE TO WANGDITSE NATURE TRAIL 2HRS ALT:2400m                                                BLD

After breakfast we start our day by talking a short Wangditse Nature trail walk on the hill of Sangaygang towards BBS tower. The nature trail path is well maintained and easy to walk through the pine forest and shrubs. Enjoy your hike as this trail will take you through many hanging prayer flags making the place beautiful and scare. You can get an aerial view of Thimphu valley and bustling city. First the trail seems to head up into the mountain towards Phajoding but after 10 minutes of abrupt climbing the trail gets gentle and easier. After sometime the trail starts to drop down gently through oak, blue pine and short rhododendron until Wangditse Monastery (under renovation). Return back the same trail and visit Takin Preserve at Motithang. Afternoon visit Memorial Chorten a stupa dedicated to the third king of Bhutan, spend some time at Buddha statue.  Evening from the clock tower square take a walk to the city. O/n at Thimphu.

 

DAY 3 THIMPHU – PUNAKHA 1200m 77km 3hrs                                                                                                                 BLD   

After breakfast start towards Punakha enroute stop at Dochula pass 10,000ft to take some good photos and upon reaching Punakha procBhutan - Punakha Dzongeed to the “My Gakidh Village” to see the life style of Bhutanese people, it is a simple walk through the local houses. Later hike to Chimmi Lhakhang through the paddy fields, the hike is of 45mins. Then later we visit majestic Punakha Dzong which is the summer capital of monk body. Overnight in Punakha.

DAY 4 PUNAKHA – PARO 2195m 142km 4hrs    BLD                                                                                                                                                        

After early breakfast drive towards Paro en-route stop at Chunzom confluence and and back on the way to Paro visit Tamchog Iron Chain bridges. After lunch visit National Museum on the way to National Museum you can visit Dumtseg Lhakhang. Overnight in Paro.

 

DAY 5 PARO – WALK  TO ZURI GOENPA 1.5 hrs ALT 2600M                                                         BLD                

Morning we start the hike from Uma Paro hotel and is easy with little climb of about 20 minutes and then along the slope above Paro valley with spectacular view down below. Walking along the trail one will get good opportunity to witness the landing and taking off of the airlines. It will give another opportunity to take good picture of Paro valley including the Rinpung Dzong (Paro dzong), airport, Paro town and surrounding mountains. On the trail, one can visit the Zuri Goenpa built in 17th century by Zhabdrung.  Finally the trail ends above the National Museum and later we visit National Museum, Dumtseg Lhakhang. In the evening drive till the view point of Drukgyel Dzong which is a under restoration. Overnight in Paro.

 

DAY 6 PARO – HIKE TO TIGER’S NEST 900m 4-5hrs                                                                                                                       BLD

Morning – if you are adventurous and physically fit to you could hike to “Taktsang” one of the popular spiritual heritages sites and is a monastic retreat most venerated pilgrimage sites in the country.  It was here that the great tantric master Guru Padma Sambhava flew in from Tibet on a tiger to bring Buddhist teachings to Bhutan (round hike take 4 – 5 hours). “Trip to Bhutan is never complete without climbing to Taktsang” indeed it’s true as the journey there fills you up in spiritual bliss. The dramatic landscape and the artistically built monument that becomes a hiker’s delight. Let us take you to this dramatically set Buddhist relic hanging from a cliff. Experience the uphill climb as you ascend more than 2000ft from the valley floor. Afternoon at leisure. O/n at Paro.

 

 

DAY 7 DEPARTURE BY DRUK AIR (AIRBUS 319) KB                                                                                                                           B
